Let's go to "The Rialto"

Wilshire is a great street for those interested in different experiences. One can get tea, coffee, boba, breakfast, fresh fruit, and live entertainment all within a short span of street.

But few will debate that Rialto Cafe is "the place" in Fullerton for an excellent weekend brunch. The location is classic, as it reminds the diner of a small European coffee shop with tables out on the street. The workers are a spattering of Fullerton residents that make you feel like you are at a local favorite, and the breakfast is great.

Just recently, The Rialto has been opened at night time, becoming the "Burger Parlor." If you love gourmet and different types of burgers this is definitely your night hangout.

Fullerton Uncorked! Arrives this Weekend

A food and wine tasting extravaganza is taking place in Fullerton this weekend!

Fullerton Uncorked!

Fullerton Uncorked is a wine tasting, micro-beer brewing, local-cuisine tasting good time! Or so that is how I imagine it. I myself, have not yet been. The Fullerton Arboretum, which is on the campus of CSUF, hosts the event every year.

This year, the event's website boasts that fifty of the Fullerton's best restaurants will be sampling their best foods. To top it all off their will be door prizes an live music. All of this for $55 dollars per person. If you think of it, that is a cheap price for all the food, wine, and entertainment you want.

This is a bucket list item for any Fullerton resident.

Kelly Thomas Concert

Today there will be a memorial concert for Fullerton homeless man Kelly Thomas. The event will take place in Fullerton's Downtown plaza on Wilshire Avenue.

The event is an example of a community not being apathetic towards the way the homeless and needy are treated within their community. Thomas was beaten to death near the bus stop in Downtown's transportation center. Several police officers are being investigated in relation to the beating.

Even through a situation that is so dark and tragic, a community has the chance to show their true colors in coming together and celebrating a man's life.

Protests and demonstrations have been heard every weekend as several citizens have taken a stance against the Fullerton Police.

What the community needs to focus on is the future and how we can help the homeless and special needs members of our community.

The concert and canned food drive today is a great start in letting Fullerton's enraged and passionate voice be heard around the world.

Summer Days at the Farmer's Market

Food. Music. Beer. Fresh Fruit.

What more can can a person ask for?

Every Thursday Downtown Fullerton has a Farmer's Market on Wilshire Blvd. It's always a great time. Every community should have something like this.

There is something for everybody. Every week there is a new musical artists either playing classic rock, latin jazz, or some other type of fun music.

Shopping for fresh fruit is always an adventure as there is something new that is ripe every week. The vendors always are generous with samples.

If you want to relax and grab a craft beer with some friends, you can at Fullerton's Fender Guitar museum. And of course there is always amazing food to choose from.

I recommend the tri-tip sandwiches. The money you pay goes to help food programs for the homeless. Or, try any sort of sausage and load it up with toppings!

The Farmer's Markets take place for about half the year spanning from Spring to early Fall.

It's a must for any Fullerton native!

Living Art

The first Friday of every month Jim and Ann Thacker showcase, view and discuss art.

No, the couple are not at a ritzy home in residential Fullerton, discussing art while sipping wine and tasting cheese with other hill dwellers. The two are the owners of Village Art Center, a custom framing business and gallery on Chapman and Harbor, and are part of a community event that brings art downtown.

Downtown Fullerton Art Walk takes place the First Friday of every month from 6 to 10 p.m. The monthly event features 26 art galleries, most of which are shops and restaurants that have been transformed from their day time gigs.

This is one of the great features of living Downtown. The town transforms from business and shopping to culture, art, and a downtown scene during the night.

Jim and Ann Thacker know it best, as they have owned a local business in the community of Fullerton for several years. According to Jim Thacker, Fullerton itself has undergone a transformation. In the 80's and 90's the town was run down and lacking a personality, but the renovation of Downtown is breathing life back into Fullerton.

The Thackers are working to help bring back Fullerton to its full potential.

Every small town or city should embrace the arts and follow Fullerton's example.

The Local Feel

Fullerton Downtown is local.

What is meant by that is that the information, the vibe, and the thoughts found on this site are homegrown. Downtown Fullerton's outer limits span only 3-4 city blocks away from the epicenter of the town. The town is small, yet millions have heard of it. Its name packs a lot of punch.

As a community it deserves a place where the information and stories are focused on what it has to offer. Whether it be the Fullerton Farmer's Market, the night life and delicious dining spots, or the social movements within the town that are making noise news all over the United States. Fullerton is unique, and there is a niche for Fullerton stories.

Every day there is something to talk about Downtown.
